meet the Artist
Bekah Bratton
Hi! I'm Bekah. I love coffee, Broadway musicals, old Hollywood, and laughter. I'm a sucker for puns at any level and love to have a song ready to play for every situation or destination. I've watched FRIENDS, Seinfeld & Parks and Rec so often that I have been known to quote some amazing one liners in everyday life. Ultimately, I am an ARTIST, down to my very core. I currently live and work in Atlanta, GA, though I hail from the Pacific Northwest; specifically, Bend, Oregon. My love of sewing started around the age of 7 and I'm extremely grateful that I grew up surrounded by people who invested in my artistic drive and championed me on. My very first sewing project was a tiny little dress for my American Girl doll, Samantha. My mom taught me the ins and outs of the sewing machine, my aunt took it from there with some intermediate techniques when I was in high school {and home schooled}, I was taught advanced tricks from the most wonderful retired alterations specialist, Ms. Ruby.
One thing that has always and continues to inspire me is the graceful world of Ballet & I started taking classes when I was 7 . My favorite part of dancing were the gorgeous and intricate costumes we got to twirl around in twice a year at our recitals and the Nutcracker. I still love a good TWIRL and it's a permanent fixture of my shot list for styled shoots. My teachers encouraged me to pursue my love of costuming & even let me assist in revamping some worn out costumes when I was only 13.
After high school, I moved to Jackson, MS & was able to work along side the ballet company Ballet Magnificat! in their costume department. My days were filled with piles of tulle and tutu construction and I loved every second of it. During my six years in Mississippi, I designed and sewed three lines of women's clothing, styled and ran all my own photo shoots and was able to create lasting collaborations with other artists and vendors in the city. I attended Belhaven College, studying Art History and Drawing while building my portfolio.
In 2011, I made Atlanta, GA my home. Since then, I have been honing & developing my bridal skills and creating relationships with exceptional photographers, make up and hair artists, floral designers, singers and other fashion designers.
I understand that design is more than just an article of clothing & what we choose to wear can reflect or enhance our mood. The bridal gown is so significant and my desire it to walk alongside you, the Bride, as you journey toward your wedding day. I strive to bring out the very best and most beautiful version of you that exists and see you fully prepared for your walk down the aisle.
